This section maps the pride mechanism specifically: how the defended identity forms, what maintains it, and what allows it to soften. What Pride Actually Is: Pride is the hardened ego formed around the defense against, and the refusal to ever feel shame or worthlessness again. It is not a moral concept, arrogance, or vanity. It is a survival structure, where the self organized around a worldview: I will never be that small again.
