Hey people! I’ve been listening to Moyka quite a lot the last few days. She’s not new to me by any means, in fact I first heard of her very soon after her debut EP “Circles” came out in 2019 and have been following her ever since. But I’ve just recently got to hear her latest EP “Icarus” and then felt like revisiting her earlier music as well. I was actually sure that I must have featured her music around the time when I first heard her, but turns out that apparently I have not, or I must have deleted that post ages ago. So I felt like it’s time to change that. Moyka is the artistic moniker of Monika Engeseth, who hails from Hallingdal in eastern Norway but has been based in Bergen for some time. She is a very skilled musician, singer, songwriter, as well as producer who makes really immersive-sounding synth-driven electropop that sounds kind of dark in a very Norwegian, cold, mysterious way, with raw, vulnerable lyrics, and is deeply emotional and melancholic but also very danceable…
