Now that the dust has settled a bit, I thought I should probably reflect on the Sunny Afternoon tour that has somehow just come and gone. Unlike the previous tour, which I only managed to see once, this time I was ready for it and zipped across the country a little bit – even so, I’d still characterise it as a bit of a ‘shoulda woulda coulda’ tour as I would’ve seen twice the amount of shows (and gone to plenty more locations) had all of the circumstances been right. Money played a big part on both occasions; as well as my emotional attachments to the West End production, I simply couldn’t afford the tour venue prices when the 2016-17 tour came around – and they should never have had the West End and tour running concurrently anyway, as it spread the show’s fanbase too thin. This time, I managed to scrape a few deals here & there (as well as a press ticket), but it was still hard to sink money into this show when I had so many other things going on. I definitely got a bit complacent…
