In Valparaiso, the 1913 and 1928 alignments of the Lincoln Highway converge. I’ve marked the 1913 route in red on the map below; click it to see it larger. (In 1928, the Lincoln Highway was rerouted between Fort Wayne and Valparaiso on a more direct, southerly route.) Imagery ©2026 Airbus, Airbus/CNES, Maxar Technologies, Vexcel Imaging US. Map data ©2026 Google. It’s tricky to stay on the 1913 alignment as you enter Valparaiso from the west. You have to go into the roundabout that’s about ⅔ of the way across the map from the left, take the second exit onto Sturdy Road, and immediately shift one lane right and turn right onto LaPorte Avenue. The roundabout was built in 2007. Before then, staying on the 1913 Lincoln Highway was a lot more straightforward here — you just continued straight. I made this photo from the west edge of the roundabout. The 1913 Lincon Highway is on the left, and the 1928 alignment is on the right. There isn’t a lot to see on Laporte Avenue as it heads west…
