We have updated Uma’s playlist on her radio. It’s no baby rhymes now. It has carefully selected songs. Currently, U2026 has songs from Kannada, Malayalam, English, and Italian. I have heard all of them and read lyrics as well to make sure it’s friendly. It is tough to filter out songs for toddlers, especially those with some kind of rhythm. Do send me your suggestions if you have any. On the technical side, I maintain the playlists on ListenBrainz and store the exported version in CouchDB as a public JSON document. It serves as the canonical URL. That way, in case I want to add additional attributes, either from mbzlists or my own in the future, it’s easy. It’s JSPF, not XSPF. Conversion between the formats is straightforward. I also wrote a simple web component (with Claude’s help) to embed the JSPF as a table in my blog. I could use it to publish weekly lists, too.
