Tales from the weird IT side

I’ve been having an AT&T problem at work… a while ago when I was more concerned with not dying due to a large lump of tumor in my chest an AT&T salesperson called up offering to double the speed of our current setup and add three lines. tl;dr a story about an internet outage that happened while it was being worked on by the company’s rep. This was great because we needed some phone lines as our POTS lines were going to become prohibitively expensive. Instead of doubling the bandwidth they installed a second internet connection and the lines on it when I was not there. We decided to retire this second account and the attempt to port these three numbers from connection 2 to connection 1 and discovered that every request would get bounced. I say we discovered this but it was a year of put in the request and get it bounced and then find out the person working it no longer worked for AT&T. In one case the entire team disappeared. So finally we have someone working it who didn’t get laid…
