A Family in the Spotlight – Havana, Cuba I happened to notice this family deep inside the bowels of an apartment complex, and, distressingly, it has all the architectural charm of a prison, complete with bars. I zoomed to the maximum 70mm, and then I cropped some more to get the composition I wanted. It wasn’t until I converted to black and white that the image really popped. Two elements work together to highlight the family. First, we have a leading line via the architecture pointing towards them. More significant is that bright patch of light in which they stand. This is more stark since the foreground is dark. Blog readers, you’ll love my free monthly photography magazine. Signup for the free magazine to get articles and topics not discussed on the blog.
