(Originally posted on May 2018) Social media posts are full of excerpts from books, songs, poems, and movies used as captions for photos. Some are plainly posted as a user’s status to give his/her followers a hint of what he/she is feeling or going through. I noticed, people (specifically those in the ages 15-22, in accordance to those who I follow on social media) post mostly about love. Posts I usually see are about not being loved back, moving on, loving someone who only sees you as a friend, wanting to get back with your ex, and loving two people at the same time. While I see lines from the songs of Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Little Mix, I can’t help but sing old songs that have taught me completely how it’s like to be in those kinds of situation. Some of my colleagues think it’s weird that a 21-year-old woman like me would be more familiar with songs two decades older than I am than songs I literally live with right now.
