Emmie Christie has been writing Why You Should Read reviews on the InkFoundry website. If you’re unfamiliar with InkFoundry, it’s a fantastic resource: a self-proclaimed free dynamic library, linking to or hosting free-to-read stories. She’s also been doing a weekly Writer Spotlight on her own website, with more reviews and author interviews. That means Emmie’s been reading a tremendous number of words and writing thoughtful reviews. This is a really great way to bring attention to short fiction (it’s very easy to feel like a story disappears within a week of publication). Since she does a deep dive, it also lets her highlight common threads in a writer’s work. That doesn’t often happen with short fiction unless it’s published as part of a collection.
