"The Time of the Beginning" by Shiko Miyake

Today's artwork has been on Shodoshima for all to see since 2022. However, it's probably one of the least visited Art Setouchi artworks because it's almost in the middle of nowhere. Okay, not totally. It's right next to a road. But it's out of the way. I don't think many buses stop there if any and it's out of the way enough that most visitors won't make the detour for it.It's a shame because it deserves more recognition. On the other hand, I kind of like it this way. Art Setouchi is also about discovering unexpected things in unexpected places.One small, fun anecdote, because we got started, is that it's one of the few artworks from the Setouchi Triennale where I met the artist before discovering the art.Indeed, it was the opening day of the summer session of the Setouchi Triennale 2022, and I had started the day with the opening ceremony of Xiang Yang's amazing installation.
