It’s the annual (or perhaps more frequent) why I love my front garden and all the flowers that grow in it now it’s not a car park anymore celebration. Like these foxgloves, growing up beside the fence. And the roses – cultivated Boule de Neige and Gertrude Jekyll Wild roses growing in the hedge – at their peak just now All glorious and so much nicer than a car park. There is still a small parking space for visiting cars, used a couple of weeks ago for the first time in months by my son who had hired a car to do some house clearing. (Sadly not of our house but bringing stuff here as a temporary home before it gets moved out again by bike in the fullness of time…..) He could barely get the car in so I had to do a wee bit of pruning. But the Canterbury Bells have other plans. I used to think of these as a bit of nuisance until they proved to be the most robust and long lasting flowers when I was doing trials for my son’s wedding last year.
