Around ten years ago I had a stupid idea and made it real. It was called Hashtag Video Games, and it took every RSS feed from every video game news outlet I was reading at the time, bundled them all up, and posted every single story out as they hit the feed. It was an absolute nightmare, just a terrifying fire hose of information that completely flooded feeds and rendered them largely unusable. But surprisingly, a lot of people followed those accounts and found them useful until both of the platforms Hashtag Video Games was built upon eventually died in their own unique ways. The idea of HVG has stuck with me for all of these years though, because I always thought there was probably a way to make the experience a legitimately good one for users. In the years since, the games media space has largely fractured. Once-reliable online spaces like Twitter which used to be the "digital town square" have become clusters of readers spread across a ton of different social media platforms. Sites…
