You are not your job. This might be a harsh reality for some of you, but a lot of people need to accept that as the truth. When you're meeting someone for the first time, how do you describe yourself? Do you talk about your hobbies, places you like to go, sleeping habits, favourite comfort foods, or do you say "I'm a developer at..." or "I work at..."? When I think about that, I often catch myself talking about my job as something I am, or with pride, and I'm definitely looking forward to changing this. I was reflecting on this topic over the last few days, and I noticed how, these days, people who work with technology tend to only talk about their position, their accomplishments, projects, achievements, or even complain about their companies, salaries, or even their coworkers when you're at a party, a bar, or even at a dining table with close friends who aren't related to their company.
