As regular readers of this blog know, I’ve been trying to catch up with this series for a few years; I was hoping to be ready for this year’s release, but what with one thing and another, I’m still a couple of books behind. So, here we are. Beware: the story leans a lot on the sexism and racism/xenophobia of early 20th Century Britain; there’s some violence without gore, and some drinking but none of the “drinking oneself into a stupor” of some of the previous books in the series.
