Twelve days ago, an opportunity came up, suddenly, to uproot and move to a different house. I've been stressed out and losing insane amounts of sleep about it ever since. This morning, after several discussions and weighing of pros and cons, we decided not to pursue it, and I'm feeling a great deal of relief. Moving house is a massive undertaking in almost any circumstance, but especially when you're not prepared to do it. Two weeks ago, moving wasn't remotely on our radar; rather, we were beginning to solicit estimates for a roof replacement, trying to decide if we wanted to combine that project with converting the attic into livable space, and doing spring things around the yard. Then, a family member who has a too-large house suggested that we could sell our house and go live with them, pay them rent and divide expenses with them.
