There is nothing more frustrating and annoying than having your computing workflow interrupted with unnecessary application notifications when using the graphical desktop environment GNOME Shell. This experience I speak of is dealing with what feels like endless “Window is Ready” or empty notification windows. To top this off this can even lead to not automatically switching to the application that requires attention. As an example, when clicking a hyperlink in one program it will then open a web browser in the background. This results in the user having to switch to the application manually or clicking on the notification itself each time. Unfortunately this creates a bad user experience and quiet frankly makes one go crazy having to deal with it on a regular basis. Thankfully there has been wonderful people in the GNU/Linux community that have created solutions to overcome these problems by removing and disabling these notifications.
