I don’t really pay attention to the metrics on my YouTube channel. I don’t depend on the channel for revenue and I know there’s not a huge audience for a guy like me making hiking and storm chasing videos, so I keep my expectations reasonable. However, once in a great while I’ll go back and look at old videos, to see if my style or approach to videography has changed a bit. I took a look at one of my hiking videos from early 2025. One particular video was a hike up on Mount Lemmon during record heat in April of last year. (We beat last year’s record heat by a month, with similar temperatures in March this year). I enjoyed the video and remembered the hike once I watched the video. I found the video itself to be inspiring. Not inspiring in an ego driven way, but more as a reminder that I do make decent video content and I shouldn’t be so hard on myself when I’m putting together my videos. There were also a couple of personal notes I made along the way; life has had many changes for me…
