I got to perform on stage for my second highland dance show this weekend with two performances: Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. I dance with the Pam Dignan school of highland dance in Westhill and although the show is really for all the young dancers at the school rather than us adults I do feel very privileged getting to dance and participate with them all as a student at the school and enjoyed it immensely. It’s very much a novelty for me as it wasn’t something I did when I was young but I wish I had. Dancing is so good for you in a multitude of ways, not just because you get the exercise but also because the range of movements is so wide and varied that it helps keeps the joints supple. Plus it’s good for your brain which has to coordinate your body with the music as well as remember the steps. My dance teacher exemplifies these health benefits. She had her 80th birthday this week but doesn’t look her age and still teaches all the classes at the school, working 6 days a…
