A Tale of Two Beds

On Thursday 5th March, I went to the Tate and saw Tracey Emin’s bed, a piece of art I last saw in the 90s. A couple of days later, I visited the Bronte Parsonage, where I saw the reconstruction of Branwell Bronte’s bed. This representation of Branwell’s room “as it might have looked in the late 1830s” was made for a 2017 exhibition. Emin’s bed is the original, but the artwork reproduces her room at a particular time in the past. This bed was once owned by Charles Saatchi, who apparently installed it in a dedicated room in his own house.
