I’ve only been using AI myself for about 10 months. But now it’s part of just about everything I do dev-wise. I haven’t written a single line of code by hand in over 3 months. In a 300k line of code app I’d say I wrote maybe 5% of it by hand. In just this short time I’ve seen multiple giant leaps in efficiency and productivity. Last February, AI was basically a fancy Google for me. By March, I started coding using AI itself rather than using it as an info source. At first, I had to do a lot of “hand holding” to get AI tools to write the code I needed. Large features still took days, but would have taken weeks by hand as a solo dev. Today, 90% of things are one shots that take 5-10 minutes. I point AI at my code, explain what I need to make or fix, and it just does it. This isn’t bullshit code either.
