Hey people! Today I’d like to feature an artist whom I discovered very recently. Mika Akim is a solo project of singer, songwriter and violist Mika Persdotter Svensson, who has over the years been involved in a lot of other projects as well, be it on the experimental or Baroque music scene. She is Swedish, but based in Copenhagen. What makes her music particularly interesting is that she plays viola d’amore, which you certainly don’t hear very often in popular music, and which is a very beautiful-sounding instrument. A lot of her music is about love, including this song, as you can tell from the title, so the viola of love has to be the most fitting instrument there is to play the waltz of love on. The song I’d like to share was released as the first single from Mika’s second album, “Tillsammans” (“Together”). Her latest album though, titled “feb 28”, came out just in February this year.
