The third an final book in Alexandra Fuller's memoir series about her upbringing and family, which began with [_Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight_](/reading/dont-lets-go-to-the-dogs-tonight). This book continues in the same style, and centers around the author's father: Tim Fuller. It tells us about his background and deeper episodes about his general character, recognisable from _Don't Let's Go…_ and [_Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness_](/reading/cocktail-hour-under-the-tree-of-forgetfulness). The prose is still full of wit and (dark) humour, and _a lot_ of timeless quotes from mr and mrs Fuller. As I mentioned for _Cocktail Hour…_, there's no analysis at all about politics. It completely centers on Alexandra Fuller's parents and the intra-relationships in the family. I've always appreciated works of fiction where we get to follow characters of a long time (years, decades) as they grow.
