My favourite music in 2025

It took me a little while to get this one out the door, but I can at least say that I decided on this list around the new year! This list is of my favourite listens of the year, not necessarily the best albums. Some are situational, but I'd say all are enjoyable in their own ways. Aesop Rock - Black Hole Superette Aes has been prolific lately, but the quality hasn't suffered. I slightly prefer this album over the other one he dropped this year, but both are worth your time. aya - hexed! It took a little while for hexed! to grow on me. It's a very hectic and abrupt album, but the sound design is impeccable, and the lyrics just as hard-hitting. Play this loud. Barker - Stochastic Drift Stochastic Drift is a continuation of the sound Barker showed on his debut album Utility. It's techno in a sense, but it sometimes feels as if the drums and synths are in reversed roles — Barker's percussion is otherworldly and melodic in ways that are difficult to put into words.
