I recently moved into a new apartment a week ago. After looking for a place for two months, it felt great to finally have a place to call home. My friends helped with the move, dropping everything off in the apartment before they left. The last time I moved, four years ago, I remember spending the whole weekend finding a spot for everything I owned and giving it a place in the apartment. I am being a bit more cautious this time around. I have set up the basics - the bed, the computer table, and the essentials in the bathroom. Everything else is still stacked in the corner right by the door, allowing me to decide whether those things move further into the apartment or if I should donate or discard them. Being okay with the mess has been difficult. However, having a purpose for why it is there has been a great reminder of why those things aren’t in their future places just yet.
