Second down begins. 9 days old. 5/4/2026 10 days old. 5/5/2026. Spread out from the huddle. 11 days old. 5/6/2026 12 days old. 5/7/2026. Feeding on starling & red-winged blackbird. 13 days old. 5/8/2026. Just after feeding 14 days old. 5/9/2026. Feathers developing on wings and tail. This week’s big accomplishments were completion of their second down, the start of flight feathers, and motoring around on the nest. At 8 days: The chicks begin to grow their second down.
