Short-sighted governance strikes science (again)

The BBC’s science correspondent, Pallab Ghosh, has an excellent article out today about the British government cutting funding for physics research. Specifically for blue-sky research, the sort of research that ‘asks questions to understand the universe, rather than design new products’.
