Some weeks back, Ben Hansom sent me a bunch of (mostly British) magazines about comics, and I’ve now scanned them all. The most substantial stack of comics was issues of Comics International, which was (I guess) the closest analogue to The Comics Buyer’s Guide in the UK. That is, it had industry news and reviews: And also plenty of ads/listings like this: Pages and pages of stuff like this has little interest or utility, but I guess if you’re doing research into price variations of Wolverine comics for your PhD, you absolutely need this stuff. (I’ve seen other scanning people just not bother with pages like this, which is a totally defensible position, but I think a maximalist approach is better long term.) And, of course, there are more interesting ads, too. In total (with Ben’s haul and some issues I got from elsewhere), I’ve now scanned 104 issues of Comics International, which is… a lot of pages.
