I’m so grateful for the birds that sing year-round, like the cardinals, titmice, and wrens. I’ve mostly abandoned the “warbler trail,” which could now also be called the mosquito trail. Amazingly, it isn’t hot yet, though I’m sure it’s coming!Here are my photo choices for today:Sunrise, May 23, 2026 - hey, I made it out before the sun came over the horizon one day! I’m ready for sunrise to be a bit later, but that doesn’t happen until the end of July.The hooded warbler that is not normally this far west is still here, it’s day 9 since he was first seen. He sings and sings and sings! Also, he is in the most mosquito-dense portion of the trail.“He went that way.” - a really helpful blackpoll warblerLet’s talk flycatchers today. I can tell them apart when I hear them, but when I get back to the photos, it’s more challenging. I believe this is an eastern wood pewee.I think…
