The Verdant taproom in Penryn near Falmouth, Cornwall, really works as a drinking space. As we drank our way through the tap list last week we tried to work out why. We were staying in Falmouth, a place which has long had more than its fair share of interesting beer, and Jess was keen to take Ray to the various Verdant venues she visited on her own last year. The Seaview was round the corner from our accommodation and impressed us both, not least because of its quick and casual food menu apparently inspired by the concept of the Desi pub. We ended up there several times. And the Seafood Bar, which Jess fell in love with in 2025, was just as good this time round, even if the bill was a little startling. It’s the taproom we want to zoom in on this time, though. We made an afternoon of getting there, walking across country along silent lanes between stretches of farmland loomed over by colossal wind turbines, and beneath the A30.
