By which I mean speaking to people on the phone. I love my phone for everything else. It's just the actually-using-it-as-a-phone part I'm not keen on.I've never liked speaking to people I can't see. Conversely, I also hate video chats. So a bit of a contradiction, I guess that I can't quite resolve. I mean, the video thing is probably the same reason why I don't like mirrors, they just don't show my best side. So I avoid them. Or, if they insist on a video call as the kids sometimes do I'll point the camera at the ceiling. But normal phone calls, nah, avoid those. Even calling someone is a big hurdle. I'd rather just get in the car and drive to whomever I need to talk to. I always feel I am being a nuisance, calling up some plumber, or the tax office, or the garage with my daft requests. I usually write out a wee script first, with a decision tree of everything they might ask and how I'd respond. And if it goes off the rails because of some eventuality not covered by the decision tree…
