Futures and pasts: What I’ve been up to and what to do with This Day’s Portion?

I last blogged here on 15 March, which is a long time considering I was posting about once a week for years before that, often more when I entered my slightly manic periods. I have had a lot going on. Firstly, I stood as a Green in the local council elections earlier this month. This was simply hard work, what with all the calls, planning, leafleting and canvassing over a six week period. It didn’t help that I was up against the local Labour council leader in a ward with a fairly strong Reform presence as well — it turned into a really hard fought scrap between three parties. I kind of failed, finishing third. There were some mitigating circumstances — we didn’t canvas enough because the guy holding our canvassing data entered a period of radio silence, some of the leaflets weren’t great due to a lack of time to come up with a bunch of thought-through local policies, and Labour put all their resources into the ward.
