This piece began in an entirely different orientation before gradually revealing its horizon somewhere along the way. I painted it thinking that I might try for a night sky feeling, but once I rotated it, suddenly it felt like surf foaming gently onto black sand. The soft, candy-colored tones come from layering watercolor washes beneath thin veils of acrylic white. This allows the colors underneath to glow back through in a hazy, sea-worn way I love. “A Different Horizon” 11×15 mixed media on watercolor paper $250 Part of the Breathing Room collection The post A Different Horizon appeared first on Appalachian Ground.
