The call went out to the Fediverse like a bat signal and the heroes responded like they always do. It was time to submit your responses for the albums of the year as chosen by users of the Fedi, this time focusing on 1982. It’s tempting for me to say it was a great year, so I will, tempered by the fact that it is always hindsight as I wasn’t yet born. Despite this, so many of the albums from the year are classics for a reason and this is exemplified by the passion with which people talk about these records. So without further rambling, let us get into the details. Unprecedented scenes have befallen this vote and much like the Men’s high jump at the last Tokyo Olympics, we have a shared gold. With an equal amount of votes, the title of Album of the Year 1982 goes to both Pornography by The Cure and The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. Both great albums by bands I love. Not my personal favourite by either but fantastic nonetheless. Good taste everyone! Usually when I do these polls…
