Animating emojis (2026)

I dedided to stay in glass territory: After last year’s use of the two Hourglass emojis I’m moving on to sunglasses. We all know that the smiling face with sunglasses 😎 exists in Unicode, but what about creating it manually? Putting 🕶️ on 🙂 should take us there. After finishing the initial animation, I realized I could throw in another one, so I made the smiley squint while the glasses are off. In doing so, I paid an homage to the original animation that started it all. I also realized that I could add sunglasses to many other emojis. Put them on a cat 😺, you get a cool cat.
