Day 102: Caboose of the Train

2026-05-19Hello! A return to normalcy today. The weather is warm but manageable, my classes are wrapping up, loose ends are being tied, and I can't kick a kickball the right way. Out, every time...While the crazy American boys go nuts with hacky sack (which, by the way, I love that I can pinpoint the instant this trend took off based on Wikipedia edit history) I'm getting into a regular rhythm of walking and taking photos. At the same time!While walking up and down a familiar road, the train crossing started ringing red and I rushed to capture it. I was able to photograph the last boxcar (Boxcar Children, anyone?), but the cool vandalism and graffiti art were in leading cars that blurred by.I feel like there's a lot of opportunity that could be had with a moving train. You can do crazy motion blur with bullet (or any high speed) train, and the boring boxcar can stand out if you frame it or surround it with context.I didn't do that for this photo; I couldn't find a safe vantage point…
