It didn’t feel exploitative despite the subject matter. The music was good and the camera work was also fairly nice. The pacing on the other hand was all over the place. We jump from the protagonist losing her virginity to her first appointment working as a prostitute. The reasons behind this are not made clear, and it is not made clear that this lack of clarity is a deliberate creative decision until an hour down the line, where the exposition feels shaky and skeletal. There are hints that it’s related to self-worth, but very little in the way of scenes outside of psychoanalysis in which Isabelle appears concerned with how she is perceived by others. Frequent money counting scenes, and a contrast between the three hundred euros she charges for her sex work versus the sixty dollars she receives from a night of baby sitting suggest that…
