Today marks the day that i deleted hollow knight from my computer, freeing up seven gigabytes of storage and releasing a feeling of guilt that has been residing at the back of my mind, coming forward to claw at me every time i open my games folder and see it sitting there, waiting for me to come and play it again. I’ve tried countless (about four) times over the last six years to get into hollow knight, and i’ve finally decided to just conced and say that it is not a game for me. Hollow knight seems to beloved by everyone, and some of the justification for that i can immediately understand: the art style is very distinct, not only among indie games but among most game releases. The soundtrack is excellent. Unlike many recent big-name releases, it doesn’t patronise the player. But for me, that lack of patronisation can go too far, and in hollow knight it went too far.
