Calendering
There are many things that computers can do well, but calendaring does not seem to be one of them. For a long time i avoided that pain as best i could by using org mode which is excellent software and works okay as a calendar, but there are still a bunch of things that it doesn’t do well, like phone reminders, phones in general, integration with my desktop, or integration with other people. I’m not an intense calendar user anyway, so i figured it couldn’t be too bad and i’d move to using a normal calendar like a normal person. Fastmail, which i use for my email, have a calendar, and the web version is fairly decent. However, and perhaps i’m old-fashioned, i like a nice desktop app. Back in my gnome days i remember using the gnome calendar and being pretty satisfied with it. Unfortunately the kde situation is not as cut-and-dry, and you can choose whether to use the old, ugly, janky, but featureful korganizer, or the new, better looking, responsive, but feature-lacking merkuro…
