I recently read Jon’s post about giving up podcasts. I realised that i have in fact not opened the podcast app in a long time; if the inbox is anything to go by, it would be since about december of last year, because that’s when my last played episode was released. Unlike Jon, i didn’t start listening to podcasts so long ago; i got into the habit during covid, and kept up the habit for the next five years. The one i enjoyed the most was no such thing as a fish, a podcast related to QI, which is a quite excellent panel show. But the podcasts i most frequently listened to were podcasts designed for language learners, so i could listen to content in various languages at a speed at which i could understand, using vocabulary that i could understand. Some of these were very good, like the teatime chinese podcast. The content was varied and engaging. But moving from something so slow and clear to people speaking chinese in real life was still a challenge, and moving onto podcasts designed…
