Hey people! Today, I thought I’d share with you something Estonian. I’ve only come across MiaMee very recently but I was quickly able to conclude that I like their music. And I feel like Estonian music is quite underrated – including by me as I know very little of it – so I thought it would be nice to feature them. MiaMee are an Estonian ensemble whose music is a sort of mix of jazz and alt/indie pop, quite folky as well. The founder and singer of the band is Liina Saar, who also plays the violin. She assembled the band while studying in Stockholm, and since the band was started in Sweden, she wanted them to have a name that would work in both Swedish and Estonian, which is why they’re called MiaMee. A lot of their songs are inspired by various poets, both Estonian and from elsewhere, including William Butler Yeats, Kristiina Ehin and Anna Haava.
