From A new way forward, part 1 by rebecca toh's untitled project:Let’s not trust anyone who sells utopia so cheerfully. Technologist and writer Kevin Kelly has an interesting take on utopias. His argument is that the world is full of problems and questions. Problems are met with solutions, but new solutions create many more problems. Science can answer a question, and that answer can then lead to two or three new questions, “things that we didn’t even know we didn’t know”. His main idea is that problems are not a bad thing and are in fact the “conduit of progress”. He rejects utopia “because there are no problems there”.
