Lou Reed - “Tell It To Your Heart,” Capitol Theatre, Passaic, New Jersey, September 26, 1986Major milestone alert! Lou Reed’s Mistrial was released 40 years ago this month! OK, maybe it’s not major — I don’t think anyone is clamoring for #Mistrial40 deluxe anniversary reissue. I mean, what are you going to put on it … stripped-down Lou demos, extended remixes of “The Original Wrapper,” sweet ‘86 live jams, a blu-ray with outtakes from the “No Money Down” video shoot, isolated Fernando Saunders fretless bass tracks …?! But hey, even if you’re not a deep Mistrial head like me, I am going to recommend that you dig into this extremely nice live rendition of “Tell It To Your Heart,” taped at Passaic’s Capitol Theatre in September 1986. One of Lou’s twinkliest ballads, it got a long workout during this era, with keytar/synth man “Woody” Smallwood taking an outrageous solo in the middle. Fuck yes!Lou also…
