Nobody really talks about radio anymore. And by "nobody", I mean people my age. Speaking of people my age, I've been noticing this uptick in content about curation. Its the mechanic behind online aesthetics and microtrends1, which is in part engineered by human enagagement and curated by algorithms. We're given a false sense of curation - and by extension, control - by interacting with stuff we like. But, people have begun to see through the mask, taking back their control through physical media. So why did radio get left out of that conversation? Is it because radio is associated with cheesy hosts, pop and old people? I love radio. I love having someone curate music for me and occasionally interject to drop some interesring tidbit about a song. I love hearing new artists from all over the region where I live. I love being exposed to genres2, and I love being told the answers to questions about an artist or album I may or may not have been able to look up. Radio is very human. reply…
