One slight annoyance on my computer is that when i log in, thereby identifying myself to the computer, my password database remains locked. It may be worse security practice, but i like the convenience of being able to immediately enter credentials where i need them, rather than having to enter the password again. I’m not the first person to have thought this, and there used to be an “experimental pam module” for keepassxc which would do the job, but it’s been archived and it never stopped being experimental, so i decided that if i could find another method, i’d use that instead. As it happens, there is another method, sumwale’s keepasscx-unlock. And it’s very simple to set up. Now the only thing i have to do to unlock my database is to unlock my computer. It removes a bit of friction and in general is a nice feature. Honestly, i wish that a proper password manager had better integration into the desktop environment. The secret service seems alright for things like wifi passwords, but…
