Waiting at the gates...

It is the summer of 1965 and steam on the Western Region is facing last orders. A long way from Paddington the branchline through Pont Dulas is witnessing it's last steam working...8727, a Carmarthen engine is seen at the crossing passing the closed halt which hasn't seen passengers in 30 odd years. It is not quite the end for the branch as the dairy up the line remains open, but the sound of a panting Pannier hurrying milk to London will shortly be a thing of the past. There is one more chance, on her return, hopefully, this afternoon...It is fun to revisit our old projects when facing fresh challenges. Thinking about what worked well and what we are proud of is a means of topping up the motivation tank. Pont Dulas was small, just 60cm wide and 20cm deep - but it felt massive and helped me realise that a scenic N gauge project was within reach.It's half term this week, and I'm running from family commitments to work and back again.
