Last month I figured I’d put my money where my mouth is and put a Vote Green sign in the window of my top-floor tenement flat. A little later I noticed another in a flat a few doors down, and after that a new one across the road. We seem to be the only ones with political signs in our windows on our street: there are no SNP, Labour, Tory or Reform ones that I’ve noticed. Not that it means a Green sweep of the polls tomorrow; having lived through the signage of the Indy Ref, I wouldn’t expect that. The Scottish Greens are a separate party from the English one under Zack Polanski, but they’re certainly fellow travellers, so it’s frustrating to see the demonisation of the only Jewish leader of a major UK party as being somehow the face of antisemitism in UK politics, rather than a victim of it.
