threads leading elsewhere

The least you could do before closing up shop is to produce threads leading elsewhere for those you cherish most. If that isn't survivable, at least say as much. If you can't even say that, unfortunately, that's how it goes sometimes. If you can think of nobody you cherish enough to produce thread for, at least give it a second opinion before finally calling it quits.
