my acquaintances are talking about how ai is going to take our jobs. i am applying to different positions, and looking around, most of the job openings are for "ai-first" companies, the websites all look the same - colorful and bright with rounded button corners (and they want someone with a lot of experience). there are 100s of applicants for every job, it seems like you have to fiercely compete against everyone else in the crazy ai race. it's like, learning skills or researching or listening to radio is not in the books. i am feeling down again. i want to figure out how not to play the game, how to stay true to myself and improve my competencies without selling my soul to dario or sam altman. this feels so dehumanizing. i hope that non-developers at least are not feeling this way.
