Iglesia de Paula – Havana, Cuba This small church, Iglesia de Paula, according to Google Maps, was nearby. I quickly shot a few angles, but none looked particularly compelling. Then I saw this picture, which I thought could work, though admittedly it’s not spectacular. The problem was that I shot this at 24mm, which was entirely too wide. I cropped into the picture for this post to make it better. I like the variety of plants that frame the church, and the couple on the red scooter is visible through the break in the hedges. I should have zoomed in on the scene to add compression, making the key elements larger. Instead, it’s a solid tourist shot of a church in Havana. But it offers a teaching moment for me and perhaps some readers. Blog readers, you’ll love my free monthly photography magazine.
