the sun is not your friend

we’ve experienced a bit of a heatwave across the uk. it’s been absolutely gorgeous weather, everyone wants to be outside and enjoy it while it lasts. i certainly did, i started reading the first half of cannery row by john steinbeck. back and forward, up and down the garden throwing the ball for my dogaroo. as much as i’ve enjoyed myself, i’ve ended the day with what seems like an endless headache. i thought suncream was enough but i recommend you follow what the australian’s do: slip, slop, slap! slip on a (t)shirt slop on your sunscreen (spf30+) slap on a hat australia is rife with skin cancer, and they came out with a commercial in the 1980s encouraging you to slip, slop slap! it was revived in the 2010s to add seek and slide to the slogan. seek shelter slide on a pair of sunglasses don’t be a dumb dumb like me! stay safe out there ☀️
